The Celtic Ringwall of Otzenhausen was built by the Treveri, a Celtic tribe settled in this area, as a fortress and fortified hill town in Celtic drystone technique.
With walls once up to ten meters high, it counts among the most powerful surviving Celtic ramparts in Europe. Today the site sits within the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park and can be explored on well-signposted walking trails, with a reconstructed Celtic village nearby.
