Saarspektakel is the Saarland's biggest city festival, staged along both banks of the Saar in Saarbrücken on the first weekend of August.
The program spans dragon-boat racing, several live music stages, a street-food mile, a market and a family area, and it closes with a large fireworks display over the river on Sunday night. Hundreds of thousands of visitors come each year, so central hotels book up early.
