Schlossberg Caves Homburg
In Homburg you can visit the largest man-made sandstone caves in Europe.

Beneath the Schlossberg in Homburg lie the largest man-made sandstone caves in Europe. Twelve levels of galleries were dug over centuries to extract fine quartz sand.
Today a section is open to visitors, who walk through glowing red and yellow sandstone chambers on guided tours. Combined with the ruins of the Hohenburg on the hill above, it makes an unusual half-day out.
